I came across a web page not too long ago and saw a pretty sad cat that had been rescued by Marechal Cattery and was seeking a loving home. This was the first time I have ever inquired about an animal that was posted on a website but there was something that drew me to this particular cat. Maybe it is because I work for a rehabilitation agency and help impaired people and have a heart for wanting to help and make a difference but this is where my journey began with a cat who seemed un-adoptable. Louie's age is really unknown, when rescued by the cattery he was very torn up from probably fighting and had an ear that was in very bad condition, which Sheryl began treating and started her work with this cat. I had to see this cat and made arrangements to meet at Sheryl's home, knowing darn well that I wouldn't be able to say no. I found out that another person had come to see him prior to us but he had hidden and didn't go with an adopter that time, he must have been holding out for us. We brought him home, and named him Louie, we have a Sphinx cat named Tut so Louie seemed like a royal king name for such a majestic cat. Since coming home, he has become very affectionate, adapted well to my other animals, has grown his fur back and couldn't be a more lovable pet. So if you look at a pet and can see past their "impairments" you will find that with love and attendance the rewards you get from an abused animal is well worth your efforts. We had to work on gaining his trust, getting the right food to fit his needs, caring for his ear and coat, and just being patient. Louie will never have to worry about being in the cold, going hungry, or ever having to feel neglect. We had doubts because of not knowing his age, what he had been thru, and his appearance, but he quickly erased our fears and let us know we had made the right decision. Louie will always have a bent ear but that just gives him character. Thanks also to the cattery/Sheryl for rescuing him and giving him a chance and believing that there was a deserving animal needing her help.
